This is Gracie.
She is 3 years, 6 months, and 14 days old.
Gracie knows all her letters and can count to 30.
She can draw the letter "L" and "T" and she can draw killer portraits of people. Hilarious.
She sings like a champ, particularly Disney movie songs.
She gives the best hugs and kisses.
And...
She throws the worst tantrums.
Like knockdown drag out hit and kick and spit tantrums. It's crazy.
And here's the kicker, she's not potty trained.
Gracie has been in panties since the beginning of October.
She will tell her primary teachers when she has to pee.
She will tell the babysitter.
She will tell my mom.
But, at home, she just pees and poos on everything.
Oh, and at the play area at the mall. yesterday, Mike had the privilege of cleaning up her poo off the slide.
Are you kidding me?
We put her pull-ups half the time because we are so tired of cleaning pee off everything.
It's getting really old.
And I'm losing patience.
I know you are not supposed to get frustrated with them, but really. 5 months. 5 MONTHS.
And When I get frustrated Gracie says, "mommy, be happy!" and she gets upset. So I know I shouldn't and I'm probably making it worse by showing my frustration. But, c'mon, she peed on MY bed today. Gross.
I can't put Gracie back in diapers. Mainly because I'm embarrassed and because I KNOW she is capable of being fully trained.
We have tried EVERYTHING. We have bribed with toys, cartoons, candy. We have a treat bucket she gets to choose a prize form every time she goes in the potty. And, most recently, we have tried giving her coins to put in her piggy bank. But, she will still only pee or poo on the potty like 1 out of 5 times.
What gives?
I don't really need advice.
I just need some comfort.
Tell me someday she will go all the time in the potty.
Tell me someday she'll actually tell me when she has to go.
Tell me it will end.

She will sure hope that it ends some day, or maybe she just doesn't get embarrassed. Maybe she needs to save up to buy her own diapers. I think hearing your troubles makes me that much more hesitant to start training Denzil. He likes his diapers too much right now but we are going to attempt to have Cars cars as a bribe. Who knows. I'm pretty sure my nephew Carver took a while to potty train and he is good to go now...he is 8;). I totally have Denzil say the same thing to me when I get upset..."talk nice to me Mom!" Love kids.
you got this....hang in there. Someone once told me....like it says in the scriptures..."and it came to pass"....not it came to stay. Hopefully you keep your sanity until it passes. Love you!
IT WILL END!! I promise! My 3 year old was very similar. Super smart, funny, creative, dramatic and wouldn't potty train. But, now she is a pro. (she just turned 4.)
It won't last forever and this too shall pass! I promise!
